Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech to host Morocco Golf Cup
This June, Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech is hosting the first-ever Morocco Golf Cup tournament. Teeing off on Friday, 9 June, the two-day tournament will take place on a world-class, 18-hole golf course designed by Cabell B. Robinson. A total of 22 teams will take to the fairways for the 36-hole tournament, which each team consisting of two players.
The format of the tournament will be what is known as a Texas Scramble or Captains Choice, which emphasises teamwork and strategy and allows for all levels of ability to play no matter the handicap. Each player hits a tee shot, with the team then selecting the best shot. From there, the player whose shot wasn’t selected will hit the second shot and the process continues. The final score will be the total number of shots taken.
Participants will be picked up at the airport and transported to Fairmont Royal Palm Marrakech, where they will be greeted with a refreshing welcome cocktail and a gift before checking in to one of the hotel’s suites overlooking the snow-capped Atlas Mountains.
On the first day of the tournament, guests can enjoy breakfast at Le Caravane before making their way to the golf course. Lunch will be served at the clubhouse restaurant, La Sabra, and the day will end with a Gala Dinner in the Palm Ballroom. The second day will follow a similar format, ending in a Best Drive and Best Approach contest, followed by an awards ceremony and cocktail reception.
